Detailed Spermogram (World Health Organization, 5th Edition) is a comprehensive test performed to evaluate semen quality and male fertility. It includes a range of parameters that allow assessment of sperm quantity, motility, viability, and morphology.

During the spermogram, the following parameters are evaluated:

• Ejaculate volume
• Ejaculate pH
• Sperm concentration
• Total sperm count
• Sperm motility
• Sperm morphology
• Sperm viability

Each of these parameters has established reference values defined by the World Health Organization. Deviations from normal values may indicate potential fertility issues.

It is important to note that interpretation of spermogram results should be carried out by a qualified specialist, taking into account the patient’s complete clinical data.

Procedure

• Semen collection for the spermogram is performed by masturbation into a special sterile container provided by the laboratory.
• It is important to follow hygiene rules and prevent contamination of the sample.
• Immediately after collection, the sample must be delivered to the laboratory within 30 minutes for analysis.
• For the Detailed Spermogram, a fresh semen sample is used, obtained after a period of abstinence, usually between 2 and 7 days.
• The analysis is performed in a specialized laboratory, where the sample is examined under a microscope and using additional diagnostic methods.
• The Detailed Spermogram plays an important role in assessing male fertility and identifying possible reproductive function disorders. The results of this test help physicians determine the causes of infertility and select the appropriate treatment.
