Androflor complex

1500.00 MDL

Androflor Complex is a quantitative molecular test (real-time PCR detection of bacterial and fungal DNA, both qualitative and quantitative) designed for screening infections and assessing the microbiota of the male urogenital tract.

The test determines the total bacterial load, the ratio between aerobic and anaerobic microorganisms, and identifies the main pathogens responsible for urogenital infections and sexually transmitted infections (STIs).

Components of the investigation

Normal (resident) microbiota:

Staphylococcus spp.

Streptococcus spp.

Corynebacterium spp.

Transient microflora:

Lactobacillus spp.

Conditionally pathogenic microorganisms (CPM) – opportunistic microflora associated with urogenital dysbiosis:

Gardnerella vaginalis

Ureaplasma urealyticum

Ureaplasma parvum

Mycoplasma hominis

Anaerobic microorganisms:

Atopobium cluster

Megasphaera spp./ Veillonella spp. / Dialister spp.

Sneathia spp. / Leptotrichia spp. / Fusobacterium spp.

Bacteroides spp. / Porphyromonas spp. / Prevotella spp.

Peptostreptococcus spp. / Parvimonas spp.

Anaerococcus spp.

Eubacterium spp.

Aerobic microorganisms:

Haemophilus spp.

Pseudomonas aeruginosa / Ralstonia spp. / Burkholderia spp.

Enterobacteriaceae spp. / Enterococcus spp.

Yeast-like fungi:

Candida spp.

Specific pathogens (STIs – bacterial and protozoal):

Neisseria gonorrhoeae
Chlamydia trachomatis
Mycoplasma genitalium
Trichomonas vaginalis

Clinical role

  • Screening for major bacterial and fungal agents
  • Diagnosis of STIs (Chlamydia, Neisseria, Mycoplasma, Trichomonas, etc.)
  • Assessment of urogenital tract dysbiosis
  • Monitoring after antimicrobial/antifungal treatment
  • Support for selecting targeted therapy

Indications

  • Urethral discharge, burning, discomfort during urination
  • Chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain
  • Screening prior to urological and reproductive procedures
  • Suspicion of STIs after unprotected sexual contact
  • Monitoring after antimicrobial treatments

Procedure

  • The procedure takes a few minutes
  • May cause mild discomfort, and does not require recovery.
  • Collection site: anterior urethra
  • Technique: after gentle disinfection of the urethral meatus, a sterile cytological brush is inserted 2–4 cm and a circular scraping is performed; the brush tip is broken off into the transport medium container.

Pregătirea:

  • Sexual abstinence: at least 48–72 hours before sampling.
  • No urination: at least 2–4 hours before the procedure.
  • Antibiotics, antifungals, and antivirals: if possible, discontinue 10–14 days prior; ideally 2–4 weeks (only in agreement with the clinician).
  • Local antiseptics, suppositories, creams: avoid for at least 7 days.
  • Intimate hygiene: only the evening before, with water; on the day of testing do not use soap, antiseptics, or douching/irrigation.
  • Inform your clinician about chronic conditions and any medications, as they may affect the result.
