Prostate-specific antigen total, tPSA
We remind you that self-interpretation of results is not allowed; the information below is for informational purposes only.
Total Prostate-Specific Antigen (TPSA) is a protein produced by prostate cells that plays an important role in male reproductive function. It helps liquefy seminal fluid to facilitate sperm movement, protects sperm from the woman’s immune system, and breaks down proteins in the seminal fluid to release sperm.
Measuring PSA levels in the blood is used to assess prostate health and for early detection of pathologies, including inflammatory processes, benign hyperplasia, and the risk of malignant neoplasms. The test is highly sensitive and accurate and is a standard tool in urological practice.
Indications
- Suspected prostate conditions (adenoma, prostatitis)
- Screening and early detection of prostate cancer
- Monitoring the effectiveness of treatment for prostate conditions
- Assessment after surgical interventions or procedures on the prostate
- Increased risk due to family history of prostate cancer
Procedure
- Venous blood is used
- The material is analyzed using modern high-precision methods
- Mild redness or small swelling at the puncture site is normal and resolves on its own
