Pregătirea:
Bring all old prescriptions, medical records, results of previous ophthalmological investigations (eye ultrasound, visual field, OCT tomography, retinophotographs, diopter measurements). If you wear glasses or contact lenses, take them with you along with your previous prescriptions. Remove the contact lenses at least 24 hours before for an accurate diopter measurement and ocular surface evaluation. Go to the consultation with your glasses, not your lenses. Avoid using eye make-up (mascara, eyeliner, eyeshadows) on the day of the consultation. Ensure normal hygiene, but no eye drops or ointments 12–24 hours before (unless absolutely necessary). Write down all the treatments you are taking, including eye drops or ointments. Inform your doctor if you are undergoing treatment for chronic diseases (diabetes, hypertension, etc. ), as these can influence eye health. In some cases, the doctor can dilate the pupil (with special drops) to examine the fundus. After this, your near vision will be blurred for several hours and you will not be able to drive. It is good to come accompanied or avoid driving after the visit.
