Pregătirea:
If the procedure is done with local anesthesia, it is not necessary for the child to fast. If the doctor has recommended sedation or general anesthesia (in cases requiring orthopedic reduction), the child should not eat or drink liquids 6–8 hours before. In emergencies, the preparation will be determined by the doctor, depending on the situation. Choose comfortable and loose clothing that can be easily removed in the area of the fracture. Avoid jewelry, bracelets or accessories on the affected limb. Bring with you the child's medical records, the results of X-rays or other investigations previously carried out, the list of medicines the child is taking (if applicable). Inform the doctor if the little one has a fever, respiratory infections, allergies or has recently received anti-inflammatory or anticoagulant drugs. Make sure the child is rested and calm before the procedure. Explain to the child, in his understanding, that the doctor will help him repair the bone and that the procedure is safe. During the maneuver, the child may be frightened, but the pain is controlled by anesthesia or sedation.
