You generally do not need to fast, as the procedure does not involve anesthesia or medication that requires fasting. A light meal before the visit and adequate hydration (plain water) are recommended. Continue current treatments as directed by your doctor. If you use anticoagulants (eg Aspirin, Thrombostop, Warfarin), inform the medical staff before the procedure. Let us know if you are on antibiotic treatment or if you have had adverse reactions to injectable substances. Do the normal general toilet before presentation. Make sure the port area is clean, dry and free of irritation. Do not apply creams, lotions, patches or bandages to the port area before washing.
